Orfeo, designed in 1986, is a suspension lamp composed of four small conical shades arranged in sequence and supported by zigzag rods.
Defined by sharp, dynamic lines, it is enhanced by coloured cast-glass discs placed above each reflector.
Each cone contains an LED source with a slightly recessed diffuser, ensuring better control of the light emission.
Sottsass’s work for Artemide was born not only from a strong professional partnership, but also from a deep friendship with Ernesto Gismondi.
Their connection brought them together in the Memphis group, where they translated that bold, provocative aesthetic into projects created for Artemide.
